The actual internship is in the Woodley Park area and from what I can tell, things are pretty pricey! I'd like to pay no more than $700 a month.
Any (helpful) suggestions would be really appreciated.
I was just offered a great summer internship in D.C. What's the best way to find (affordable) housing?
for 700 in that area, you will be a roommate. But that's ok, its only for the summer.
also ask the employer if they have any suggestions. Depending on where you are working, they may have temp housing.
This area is near the metro. You may also check out the local universities and see if they are renting rooms for the summer in the dorms or even in a frat.
Reply:I'm not familiar with DC so these may not apply but you might try checking out the colleges and universities to see if they have any summer rentals (sometimes, they will rent out dorm space just for the summer), check the bulletin boards around the schools to see if anyone is looking for someone to sublet just for the summer, or is looking for a roommate just for the summer. Look around for a boarding house-type place. You can ask the place giving you the internship if they know of anything that might work for you--my firm hires summer interns and every spring they put out a firmwide APB for rentals/sublets offered by their employees.
