Were can I find information on charging a/c with R-22?

unless you are EPA certified, also known as 608 certified, then you yourself can not buy R-22, or any other type of refrigerant, not to mention recover it.although if you want to recharge your system, then call a technician, or if there is a near by shop that does repairs and such bring it into them and have them recharge it, but if your ac needs recharging most likely it has a leak which should be repaired.

If you don't have the tools and training to do this then you shouldn't be doing it. The pressure on freon can be up around 200 psi. Not something for the untrained to deal with.
Reply:You have R-22? If, not you may have to convert the unit to the new Freon. Now, many times, if, there are no leaks in the unit, Do this first; Check the Cooling Coils on the Outside of the Unit and clean if necessary. I use a Water/Bleach mix, may have Algae Growth or whatever. Then rinse with water. BE careful the unit is OFF in case your hands around the Fan!!!!! Inside, check the Filter. Then if this not correct you have to Find the Cooling Coils on the Inside of the unit and they may need cleaned. First run Bleach through the Weep Drain that allows water to channel outside, this opens it if there any Goop in there. Then as you clean these Coils your Fluids can drain outside.

Now, if this is all checked out and it still not cool! Two things here. When Gages are placed on the Outside service valves you can tell what the Head Pressure is. IF, the unit very old, over time it will lose head pressure just like a car loses compression from normal wear. IF, this it, the Compressor will need replaced or a total new unit outside.

Now we come to the Freon. I will not post this, contact me may be better.

Reply:you can use r22 utill year 2010 .then at that time they will start to phase it out .if you have a cfc licence you would be able to buy it .
Reply:Don't worry about converting away from R-22. First off you will need a gauge set with the manifold and hoses, and you will need some R-22. If you have that stuff, then it is pretty easy to do. Once you get that stuff, let me know. I'll walk ya through the rest!
Reply:I don't think u can use r22 anymore .Need to switch system over to r135
