A UK Bank (say Halifax) gives only a ref. No to a large sum in a Suspense A/c. How can I find out the Branch?

This is held confidentially. Will some UK Assoc. help secretly?

or wise to go to FSA or BBA for help? Have all Banks a

Whilst the Halifax, like all building societies have holding accounts for funds paid in, they will be able to trace where a transaction was taken in. They will have a customer complaints team that should be able to give you this information but I would suggest paying your local branch a visit. They will not give you any information though if the transaction relates to someone else i.e not your account.
Reply:This is the vaguest question I've heard oh well one of them at least. I cannot believe that people asking a question but not giving enough details so someone might be able to help them. Listen mate, no bank will give you confidential information about someone else's account. They could be grilled if found out. Under data protection act this is impossible unless you have internal person whose back side will be in a jam if found out. I think you are upto some dodgy dealings and to be honest I am sure if I want to help more than this.
Reply:Have you had an e mail offer to share some money held in a suspense account? if so it is a total scam, these originate often from Nigeria, and are just wanting you to give them your account number so they can get at your funds. It's phishing.
Reply:Don't bother, it's a fraud.

All Banks will issue a letter of credit upon request.

This is a regular occurrence in business to prove the funds are available, before the deal commences.

All Banks are confidential.

Any other method is a scam.

If for example, as happened here.....

Imelda Marcos tries to access her offshore accounts in Hong Kong, whilst under travel restriction, and having her assets frozen in the Philippines.

Any attempt by a third party to access these accounts will result in arrest, even with the documentation from Imelda.

The HK Government may not be legally obliged to freeze the accounts, but they will not want these transactions to take place. The law may be murky, but arrest is certain. They will probably claim the documents are forged.

This is the only scenario that could be called semi-legitimate. All other types of scenario are merely a scam.
Reply:I am not entirely sure what you are trying to do. Who is this him you refer to?

Dies Hd mean high degree? If so then yes all banks are very particular about who they give information to concerning other peoples accounts. They have to be both because of the Data Protection Act and because of the dangers of fraud.
