How do I find what kind of Memory Chip I have,C drive almost full.?
Ok, There are two kinds of memory, There's ram, and there's your hard drive. It sounds like you just need to buy a 2n'd hard drive.

But before you buy a new hard drive you will need to find out if you have SATA or PATA.

Open your case and have a look at the hard drive. and if there is a cable that's about 1.5cm wide then you have SATA. if there's a much wider cable that's about 3 cm wide, than you have PATA. The importance of this step is huge. If you buy the wrong hard drive you will not be able to connect it to your motherboard

The above link shows the difference

If the cable is SATA go buy a sata hard drive and make sure you have a cable for it.

If it's PATA It gets complicated, as you can most likely have either 2 or 4 PATA drives maximum, and your cd drive is also included as one of the drives. The way to tell is to see where the ribbon cables are going and if there is another long connector on the main circuit board (The motherboard) that is exactly the same size then you can install another PATA drive

Once you've found out then you can go shopping!

When you're at your local computer store ask for a hard drive approximately 320gb as these tend to be the best value (they are in Australia anyway)

After you've gotten home, screw in the drive plug in the SATA or PATA plug in the power plug, then CHECK EVERY OTHER PLUG and don't knock any others out doing so :P

Turn on your computer and if all is well it'll turn on and when you go to "my computer" it will say you have a new drive probably drive "e" you can then copy things into this drive and make more room on your C drive the more room you have the better. If you don't have many music files, or videos then uninstall programs and install them on the other drive (do not copy them from program files)

If you have a friend who knows about computers I'd get their help before attempting this. Even talk to the person at the counter and see if they can help you and show you on one of thier computers
Reply:take the side of the PC and pull the stick its got the size on the stick. C drive is the HD not memory you prob need to upgrade both if you right click C: then properties
