Where in or near Surf City N.C. can I find either sharks teeth or fossilized Megalodon teeth?

Im in search of sharks teeth primarily megalodon teeth. I would appreciate any local hunting grounds as well as hunting tips. Can anyone help?

If you're in Surf City, then obviously you know of North Topsail Island. I've gone there for two summers now and it's absolutely amazing how many teeth you'll find. My best recommendations are stay in areas with a lot of shell debris and go before and after storms come in. If the forecast says it's going to rain tomorrow, then go out to the beach today. There should be rough waves and that helps move the sand and bring in all kinds of awesome teeth. Stay down near the water where it breaks on the sand. You'll find the biggest and best teeth rolling around at the water's edge. I recommend you stand in the water...it should come up to mid-shin and then stand facing the shore. You should find some really good ones. I know I have and I've seen a couple people pick up some really huge (2in to 3 in) teeth. Also, don't be afraid to pick up these little teeth that look like molars. They'll be in a row and kind of look like our teeth. I was told once that those are shark's teeth that scoop up sand and grind it to find small organisms that live in the sand. Just an FYI!
Reply:Oh, so I remembered what kind of teeth the row like ones are. They're stingray teeth. You can find some good pictures on google. Type in "Shark Ray Teeth" in google images and then you'll see some really good ones! Good luck! Report It

Reply:Look for a stretch of beach that has pebbly rocks. I found blackened shark teeth on Long Island's North Shore, where the beaches are pebbly.
