Reply:The movie is very accurate. It is missing many of the details, but a summary wouldn't give you that anyway. It's an easy read, so I would suggest that you skim over it in order to get as much from the book as you can before you write your report.
Reply:The movie is extremely inaccurate. If you are writing a report about this book I suggest you do not use the movie as your main source of info. In the movie the mother dies, she does not in the book. In the movie, it seems that the children are only in the attic a year or so but they were actually in the attic almost 4 years. In the movie the children escape on the mother's wedding day and the grandfather was dead only a few weeks. In the book they just pick a day (Sunday to be exact) to leave the house and the grandfather has been dead almost 9 months. It did not explain in the movie that Corrine had to keep her children hidden or kill them as the grandfather had it written in his will that if it was ever proven that Corrine had children by her first marriage she would have to forfeit all her money and anything bought with it. The movie makes it out that she is only greedy but as you can see, it is much more than that.
