You can do a search on this artist website: www.absolutearts.com or it's sister site, World Wide Art Resources.
Enter whatever information you have-- artist name, medium, subject matter, location, etc. and see what comes up. If the artist happens to be dead, you might get some hits from dealers or galleries that handle the estate of the artist.
