Long story short, I have Dell with XP-home edition. Hubby took computer and I had password protected screen. When they couldnt enter onto puter, sisterinlaw changed from C drive to E drive. Where is my C drive and how can I get it back. I went to "change driver letter" as in other ?? here, but it only shows E, not C. Now what?
How do I find old C drive and revert back to it?
Since you already know how to change drive letters, the only advice I can offer is:
Make sure there are no other drives currently using the letter C, before trying to change anything.
Reply:Did you try turning the system off and starting it again? I would try that, hold in the power button for about 10 seconds until the system turns itself off. Then turn it back on again.
If that doesn't work, try turning it off again, then turn it back on, when you see the Dell Splash screen, tap on the F12 key a few times. You will see a "Boot Menu". One of the items on the screen will be "boot to hard drive", using the arrow keys on the keyboard, navigate down to that option and then press Enter on the keyboard. The system should then boot to the hard drive which is your C drive.
They didn't change the drive designation did they? Very strange.
Give it a try, good luck!
